Julia Sachenko is a Ukrainian anti-trafficking and child protection expert with over 15 years of experience in combating trafficking in human beings, supporting survivors, and strengthening protection systems in humanitarian and conflict settings. As a national consultant with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), she contributed to the evaluation and development of Ukraine’s State Targeted Programs on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and led research on trafficking risks affecting war-displaced Ukrainians across Europe. Her work has supported the strengthening of Ukraine’s National Referral Mechanism (NRM), including the development of practical tools for diplomatic and consular staff to identify and assist potential victims of trafficking abroad. Julia’s analytical and advocacy work also focuses on trafficking risks related to the displacement, deportation, and exploitation of Ukrainian children during the war. She has represented Ukraine at international forums, including the OSCE, Council of Europe, and discussions related to international justice and child protection. In 2025, Julia founded Libera NGO Ukraine, a non-governmental organization focused on combating trafficking in persons (TIP), gender-based violence (GBV), and conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), while strengthening prevention, survivor protection, and national response systems. Through Libera, she delivers specialized trainings for law enforcement, social services, and multidisciplinary professionals on victim identification, trauma-informed approaches, and child-friendly justice.
